Privacy
LovedThis! was made with love by a son and his mom — bringing people together one favourite at a time. There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and nothing about you is sold or shared for marketing. This page says exactly what is stored and what happens to it.
What LovedThis! stores
- Your email address. Used to sign you in — we email you a six-digit code instead of asking for a password — to send the once-a-month reminder if you haven’t turned on notifications, and to let you know when another member invites you into one of their circles. The link at the bottom of any of those emails turns them off. The person who invited you never sees your address.
- Your display name. The name your friends see beside your lists.
- The favourites you add. The title, which topic it belongs to, your optional one-line note, and a little context where it helps: neighbourhood and cuisine for a restaurant, a link for a recipe, cover art and a title reference for a book, film or show.
- Who you follow.
- A notification token for your device, only if you say yes to notifications. It lets the monthly reminder reach your phone.
- When you accepted the Terms — a timestamp recorded when you create your account.
- Reports and blocks. If you report something, we keep the report — what was reported, your reason, a copy of the reported text, who filed it, and when we were notified — and a copy of it is emailed to the person who runs LovedThis! so it gets looked at promptly. The person you reported is never told who it was. If you block someone, we keep that block — along with their display name at the time — until you lift it; the blocked person is never told.
- Suggestions. If you send a note from the Suggestion box, we keep it — your words, your account, and when you sent it — and it is emailed to the people who run LovedThis! so it can actually be acted on.
That’s the whole list. LovedThis! does not ask for or collect your location, your contacts, your photo library, your advertising identifier, or anything about how you use other apps.
Who can see it
- People you share an Inner Circle with can see your display name, your picture and the favourites on your lists, and can find you by name. Nobody else can look you up — not by name, not by browsing a list of members.
- Everyone else signed in to LovedThis! sees your favourites only in the shared lists (All and Trending), with no name or picture attached — and only if you’ve kept the Circles of Love switch on, on the Circles tab. Switch it off and your favourites reach your Inner Circles alone.
- Circles you ask to join. If a circle’s starter has chosen to let it be found by name and you ask to join, that starter sees your display name, your picture and your lists so they can say yes or no. You don’t see who’s in the circle until they say yes. Every circle starts hidden; a found circle shows only its name and how many people are in it — never its members, and never the line under its name, which only its members see.
- Blocks. If you’ve blocked someone (or they’ve blocked you), neither of you sees the other at all.
- Nobody outside the app. There are no public web pages showing anyone’s lists — you have to be signed in to see anything at all, and this is enforced in the database, not just hidden in the app.
- Your email address is never shown to other members.
Where it lives
In a PostgreSQL database on a private server that we rent and administer ourselves — not on a third-party social platform. Everything travels over HTTPS. Encrypted backups are taken nightly and kept off-site so an accident doesn’t lose anyone’s lists.
The few other services involved
- Resend delivers the sign-in emails, the monthly reminder email and circle invitation emails. It handles your email address to do that.
- Apple’s push notification service, via Expo’s push service, delivers the monthly reminder to your device. It sees a device token and the text of the notification, not your name or email.
- Apple’s iTunes Search API, Open Library, TMDB and Google Places power the search box when you add a favourite — books, podcasts and songs (Apple, with Open Library for books too), films and shows (TMDB), and restaurants (Google Places). What you type goes to them through our server so we can offer you titles, cover art and venue details. They are not told who you are.
- Recipe links. If you paste a recipe link, our server fetches that page once to grab its preview image, so your favourite has a picture. The site you linked to sees a request from our server, not from you.
- If the app fetches a small bug-fix update, that check tells Expo’s update service which app and platform version you’re on — nothing that identifies you.
There are no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers in the app. LovedThis! does not track you across apps or websites, which is why it never shows you the “allow tracking” prompt.
Deleting your account or your data
Delete your account yourself, inside the app: About → Delete account. It removes your profile, your favourites, your notes, your follows, your tags and your notification tokens from the live database immediately. (If you can’t reach the app, email hello@lovedthis.app from the address you signed up with and we’ll do it for you.) Copies may linger in the encrypted backups for up to 14 days before they age out on their own. One exception: if your content was the subject of a moderation report, the report’s record (including its copy of the reported text) is kept — deleting an account doesn’t erase the paper trail that keeps the place safe. The same goes for any reports you filed yourself: they stay on record, with your display name as it was when you filed them, though they are no longer linked to an account.
You can also delete any individual favourite yourself, at any time, inside the app. Deleting is a real delete — it doesn’t hide the row, it removes it.
Children
LovedThis! is for people 13 and older. Creating an account requires confirming this, and the App Store listing carries a 13+ rating.
